Context:
Surgical glove packaging is a highly specialized process that demands precision, hygiene, and strict adherence to standard operating procedures. The complete workflow involves quality inspection, inner walleting, pouch sealing, mini-cartoning, carton packaging, and sterilization — all requiring synchronized, contamination-free handling. Despite the scale of the Indian medical industry, there were no fully integrated local solutions available to handle these processes efficiently.
Innovation:
Under the leadership of Mr. Sanjay Zacharias, a complete set of automated and semi-automated equipment was developed to streamline the surgical glove packaging process.
Key developments included:
A unique pouch packaging machine — the first of its kind in India, designed to handle not only surgical gloves but also various other medical disposables.
An inner wallet-making machine, enabling in-house production of glove inner wraps with precise folding and alignment.
Together, these systems ensured process consistency, higher throughput, and compliance with medical packaging standards.
Outcome:
The integrated solution enabled cost-effective, high-volume glove packaging while maintaining international quality benchmarks. It reduced manual dependency, improved process control, and established a benchmark for indigenous medical packaging automation in India.
